E3 Round Up Day 3: Sony

I’m a little late on this one because I was venting about Black Ops 4, but now we’re back on topic. Today’s topic is the last presentation of E3: Sony’s.

Besides a weird, borderline bizarre presentation style involving a long delay, Sony did relatively alright. Let’s see what they had for us.

The Last of Us 2: TBD

Sony started off with some gorgeous gameplay of The Last of Us 2. Boy does this game look good. Given the setting, you know zombies and all, the game looks much grittier and darker. Ellie looks to be the protagonist this time around, and she seems upset. The action is just as tense as you’d expect it to be, and the bow and arrow makes a return. Nice!

To be fair, the opening of Sony’s conference was cool. The setting the audience was sitting in matched the opening setting for The Last Of Us 2’s video. We still have no release date, but if it’s looking like this, fans can feel relief knowing it’s making great progress.

Ghost of Tsushima: TBD

Wow. I’ve never seen The Last Samurai, but I’ve heard it’s really good, and I picture it plays out like this.

Sucker Punch (Infamous and Sly Cooper) are switching gears to make something different. You play as Jin Sakai as he fights to defend his homeland from the Mongol invasion. You can see influences of The Witcher and Assassin’s Creed in the walkthrough, and this might have been the best looking game, graphically speaking, at E3. Leaves float all around you, the grass blows in the wind, blood splatters as you mow down your enemies. Like jeez I thought they were going to say “Coming to PS5” at the end of the trailer.

It’s about time we get a good looking samurai game, since we’ve gotten really good cowboy games and decent pirate games. I will say the only thing that disappointed me was that they didn’t have Japanese voice acting which seems like the right way to go with this title.

Control: TBD

I got some Quantum Break vibes from this, but it looks interesting. Almost like playing Infamous with guns?

Resident Evil 2 Remaster: January 25, 2019

I’ve never played this one, but this remake looks awesome. That glow up though. I’ll definitely be giving this a try come January.

Death Stranding: TBD

We’ve finally gotten more info as to what this is, and we still don’t know what this is. It looked cool, but I honestly don’t know what to say. I’m so confused.

Nioh 2: TBD

I’ve always wanted to play the first one, but I don’t have the patience for these types of games. Maybe this will give me motivation to try it out.

Marvel’s Spider-Man: September 7th, 2018

The hype is intensifying peeps. Ya’ll know I’ve been hype for this Spider-Man, and the more I see, the more I want it. The combat looks really good, and we got to see a finisher-esque move at 2:03. Classic Spidey villains made an appearance as well. Awesome!

Sony’s presser wasn’t too shabby. They showed everything we thought we were going to see, minus any hope for a Bloodborne 2. What were your thoughts on it?
